The JEE Main offline exam was conducted on 4 April, 2015. It was a 3 hour paper, which started at 9:30 AM. The test paper had 90 questions with total of 360 marks. Each question was of 4 marks. There were 3 parts in the question paper consisting of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
Each subject (Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics) had 30 questions. All questions were objective in nature with 4 choices and and one correct response. Each question carried 4 marks for the correct response and -1 for incorrect response. All questions were single correct multiple choice type.
There was equal distribution of questions from Class 11 and Class 12 portions. 7 questions were from Mechanics, 12 questions from Electricity & Magnetism, 3 from Heat & Thermodynamics, 2 from Modern Physics, 3 from Optics, 1 from Gravitation and 2 from SHM & Waves.
There were 12 questions from Physical Chemistry, 8 from Organic Chemistry and 10 from Inorganic Chemistry.
Algebra had major share of questions. There were 12 questions from Algebra, 6 questions from Calculus, 7 from Coordinate Geometry, 2 from Trigonometry, 2 from Vectors and 1 from Reasoning.
