Paper-based JEE (Main) exam was conducted on 7th April 2013. More than 14 lakh students took the exam. The exam was conducted from 9:00 to 12:00 hours. There were 4 versions for JEE Mains - P, Q, R and S. The order of subjects in each version was different. Similarly, the options for each question were shuffled in different versions.
30 questions from each subject - Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics were asked. There were total of 90 questions to be attempted in 3 hours. For every correct answer, 4 marks to be awarded and for every incorrect answer, 1 mark to be deducted. That makes 120 marks for each subject.
There were two types of questions asked - Single Correct Answer Type and Assertion-Reason Type. Physics part had two Assertion-Reasoning type questions, Mathematics part had 3 Assertion-Reasoning type questions, however Chemistry part had no assertion-Reasoning type questions.
For general category students, expected cut-off for qualifying for JEE Advanced will be around 155 marks. Actual cut-off will be known only after results are declared.
