Human Resources Development has made an important decision in regards to the engineering admissions. The joint entrance exam for engineering admissions, JEE, is to be conducted two times in a year from 2019. JEE Mains will be conducted in January and April.
Also. the exam will be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The other exams NTA will be conducting are National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT) and Common Management Admission Test (CMAT). These exams will be fully computerised and be conducted in the online mode.
The registration for JEE is expected to open in September. This is one of the major reforms in the examination system of India to be implemented by the NTA.

National Testing Agency (NTA), which is an autonomous and self-sustained testing organisation, was approved by the government of India in 2017. It was established with an aim to bring a qualitative difference in the examination process.
2. Is there any Change in Syllabus and Exam Pattern?
The syllabus and examination pattern will remain the same.
3. Why is the Exam Conducted Twice?
It will provide more chances to students, thereby, giving adequate opportunity to bring out the best. However, there is no compulsion for students to sit for both the examinations.
4. What About JEE Advanced?
JEE Mains will be conducted twice a year. However, JEE Advanced will be conducted only once by the IITs.
